Florence Travel Guide

Getting Around Florence

Florence is remarkably walkable, but arriving smoothly requires knowing your arrival options from Peretola Airport (FLR), Rome Airport (FCO), and train connections from Rome "Roma termini" to Florence "Firenze Santa Maria Novella" central train station.

Florence Airport is well connected to city center thorugh taxi or tramvia.

Driving & ZTL Restrictions

The historic center of Florence is governed by strict ZTL (Zona a Traffico Limitato / Limited Traffic Zone) rules. Cameras monitor all entry points continuously, and unauthorized vehicles receive automatic heavy fines.

Wedding weekend Reccomendations:

  • To rent a car and have the possibility to reach the city and the venue during the weekend. Taxis are not reliable from the Villa to the city. Long time and no taxi show-ups are common.

  • The Venue will have enough parking for invited guests.

If driving into Florence, park outside "ZTL" zone in dedicated garages, public parkings and street parking delimited with blue lines (white is for residents only). If your hotel sits within the ZTL, provide your license plate to hotel staff immediately upon arrival for temporary registration.

Safety Essentials

Florence is a very safe city, but crowded places like the Duomo plaza and train station attract opportunistic pickpockets. Keep bags closed and securely zipped in front of you.

Use official white taxicabs from established taxi ranks or order via official mobile apps. Avoid unregistered vehicles offering unmetered rides near transport hubs.
